Trust The Process.

Well just as everything about Wildflower began as an idea, the studio has evolved to meet the needs of those ideas! My first location was a beautiful corner office right near my house. (I could literally walk there.) But it had carpet and white walls and I was a little afraid to hang anything because I think, in my heart of hearts, I knew I wasn’t going to be staying there. Primarily because…. it wasn’t aligning with my vision.

Early September I received a call from the Edison Center asking if I was still looking for a space. I answered that I was not and explained that I had found a place. While I was on the phone though he mentioned that he had sent pictures.

So I decided to look at the pictures anyway. What immediately caught my attention was the exposed brick walls and the beautiful window overlooking the water. Plus, I knew this suite! I’ve been inside it before… once upon a time another artist used this space as her studio.

But again, I saw carpet…. and old light fixtures…. and beige walls. So I just started asking questions….. ha! Something I’ve become pretty good at. After a little back and forth and some negotiating, I was able to begin transforming this place into what I envisioned Wildflower to be.

And I agreed to sign a new lease.

So the change began with the lights. Then the floors. Then the baseboard. And then it was ready for some paint.

And all along I held on to the vision of this large floral “mural” on the back wall and it began to direct a lot choices I was making. Meanwhile, I found a second table that was quite similar to the one I had been using and stripped that down and got it ready.

Finally…. after about 7 weeks, give or take a few days, the transition is complete! Granted, I still have two chairs left to paint, ha!

Minor details… not always my thing.

But I LOVE…. and I mean L-O-V-E this space!! It is everything I imagined it to be. It’s cozy, inspiring, it has just enough room to work with the right amount of people…. it begs you to find some art supplies and just be present. it’s perfect.

This space….. is Wildflower Wellness Studio.

One of the sayings in the art wellness community that I love best and use often is, “Trust the process”. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the small details or the moment or feel the feelings of today without thinking about tomorrow, but creating is a process…. life is a process…. everything is a process.

And a process involves change. Changes can be SCARY! We’re often scared that what is coming will be worse than what we had. So it can be confusing, annoying, frustrating…. but changes are also the only doorway to something that may be incredibly beautiful, rewarding, promising, and fulfilling. We have to always bear in mind that we are exactly where we need to be.
